H.E.R. Eating Balut And Talks About Her Love for Filipino Food

Hi HQuties! I recently had the pleasure of watching an interview with H.E.R., aka Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, where she talked about her love for Filipino food and the memories it brings back to her. As someone who is half-Filipino, I couldn’t help but relate to her love for the traditional dishes of our culture.

H.E.R. mentioned that her two favorite Filipino foods are sinigang and polvoron. Sinigang, a sour soup typically made with tamarind, is a staple in many Filipino households, including her own. She shared that her mother would always make it for her and her siblings whenever they were feeling down or needed a comforting meal.

Polvoron, on the other hand, is a sweet snack made of crushed toasted pinipig (young rice) and melted milk. H.E.R. mentioned that she would always have this as a treat after school or whenever she visited her relatives.

What was most exciting to see was when she actually tried balut, a fertilized duck egg commonly eaten as a street food in the Philippines. She was a bit hesitant at first, but after taking a bite, she loved it! She even said it tasted like a “chicken egg on steroids”.

It was great to see H.E.R. share her love for Filipino food and the memories that came with it. It just goes to show that no matter how famous you are or where you come from, the love for your culture and food remains in your heart.

I hope you enjoyed this little blog about H.E.R. and her favorite Filipino dishes. I think it’s important to appreciate and celebrate the food and culture of our heritage, and H.E.R. is a great example of that.
